Penny Play Suit

A few weeks ago I applied to be a brand ambassador for Shwin and Shwin designs. I knew a TON of people would be applying so I was not expecting to be offered the position. To my surprise, Shauna (one of the amazing designers behind Shwin) emailed me letting me know I was one of the eight woman chosen!

I've been a long time lover of Shwin, the Eleanor Dress/Top was one of the first patterns I bought and the 909 Jacket was the first adult pattern I ever tested, it was also the first time I ever sewed a zipper :) So I was more than excited to start working on some more of her patterns.

One of the things I love about Shwin is the number of FREE patterns available. I have made a few of her free patterns before so I trusted the construction and fit. I knew I wanted to use some of the Ah-Mazing Birch Knit I had but I knew my two year old would never be able to wear white. Since it's interlock and is similar to woven I figured it would work for this top. I decided not to line it but instead add neck and arm bindings. Since I wasn't adding a lining or a zipper I was able to make the bodice just two pieces instead of three.

I pretty much followed the pattern for the bottom half. I wanted to make shorts but they ended up more like capris, which I actually ended up really liking. After it was all done I was afraid Lee would not be able to get the playsuit on but she stepped into it and had no problem pulling it up. This playsuit is definitely going to become a staple in our wardrobe. The possibilities are endless :)
